Post Apocalypse Zelda, Part 2
A few developmental sketches on the characters, as well as a couple of roughs on what the world might look like. As with the enemy choice, prop selection was difficult to nail down, and time constraints prevented furthur exploration. The hookshot and shield unfortunately had to be cut.
Post-Apocalypse Zelda, Part 1
Something of a personal project, I’ve wanted to do a sort of Future Zelda for some time now, and school tossed this assignment my way: redesign an old video game.
I’ve always wondered what Hyrule would be like in some strange, parallel, bombed out universe, and this is my exploration into that land over the course of 7 weeks. This is part 1 of 2 parts, showing the various character and monster designs I decided to work with. Part 2 will contain more developmental pieces, including some of the environments and props.
Some notes:
For the most part, I tried to stay true to the already established universe, keeping in mind certain mechanics and plot points. Deciding on the enemy selection was difficult: there are many, many signature enemies in the games, and I would have liked to work with all of them. In the end I settled on enemies that had the most impact on me, either through nostalgia (like the Octorok) or gameplay experience (Redeads).
If you’ve got any questions, whether in general or on specific pieces, criticisms, or are curious on my thought process, feel free to drop me a message.
After week 2:
Next targets:
One yellow target reached and one orange. A wee bit disappointed with the loss only being 1lb this week, but something is better than nothing. More willpower!
I found Tesco were selling the new Heinz Squeeze & Stir cup soups. I’ll replace my lunch sandwich with this and see if this makes a difference. It’s only about 4 points, so should contribute fairly significantly.
After week 1:
Next targets:
Well, the time has come to admit defeat. I have fallen off the wagon, rolled down the hill, tumbled off the cliff and crashed into the sinkhole that is weight loss failure.
Not one to look back for too long, it’s time to pick myself up, dust myself off, tidy the room of junk food and get back on the plan.
Rather than setting large goals, I have split things up into small goals, colour coded by their significance, and representing a target in a specific unit of mass (stone and pounds, pounds only, kilograms). Red targets are for absolute stone values e.g. 20st 0lbs. Orange targets are for every fifth pound. Yellow targets are for every kilogram of loss. It sounds needlessly complicated, but it’s a pschological thing for me. Small but significant steps.
So, without further ado:
Next targets:
This is a grave from the Victorian age when a fear of zombies and vampires was prevalent. The cage was intended to trap the undead just in case the corpse reanimated.
How interesting!
